I’ve been wanting to do a yoga teacher training for a long time, but I never thought I had enough time for it. Nathalie’s online course is built so well around working people, you can have access to all the information online and all the live sessions. It’s very flexible, friendly and the content is great!

About the course

The online yoga teacher training is designed to be flexible and accessible, making it easier for people from all walks of life to become a yoga teacher. The course covers the depth of yoga, from pranayama to meditation, mantra, mudra and yogic philosophy as well as the physical practice of asana. Yoga goes far beyond the pose, and you will explore ways to live your yoga, not just teach it! Learning about the different styles of yoga, including Vinyasa, Hatha, Resorative, Yin and Ashtanga, you are encouraged to find your authentic teaching voice as you discover the areas of yoga that really resonate with you. Being aware of inclusivity and trauma sensitivity is a key part of teaching yoga which is reflected in this course, as well as having an understanding and appreciation for the roots and history of yoga.

A sense of community is important to me and this is fostered throughout the online yoga teacher training, with small group sizes and a down to earth, friendly approach.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered online via Zoom, and you learn the same content as the in person training. All training sessions are recorded and uploaded to an online learning platform where there are further videos, resources, lesson plans and asana library which all support your studies. You will be teaching each other from the get-go, building up from teaching in pairs to small groups, to the whole group eventually. This is done in breakout rooms on Zoom, which makes it easy for you to work with others in your group whilst being observed and receiving feedback.

You are also encouraged to teach friends and family in person, with support and guidance from me. Lesson plans and videos of you teaching can be sent through for feedback any time you want, which really helps you develop your teaching.

Areas of study

  • Asana and their benefits physically and emotionally, sanskrit names and meanings. Alignment, teaching technique and verbal cues. Adjustments, modifications and contra-indications including adapting practice for specific conditions.

  • Styles of yoga: the course focuses on traditional Hatha and Vinyasa flow, whilst introducing you to Ashtanga, Yin and Restorative yoga, and encouraging you to find your own teaching voice

  • Planning lessons: sequencing and flow of a class, teaching different levels and helping students to progress.

  • Teaching methodology: using clear language and visual demonstration, knowing when to use hands-on assists. Teaching groups and 1:1, understanding the requirements for each.

  • Adapting and modifying your teaching: understand the most common conditions people present with in class, how we can keep them safe and when to refer them, including pre & post natal students.

  • Anatomy and Physiology: gaining an understanding of the major muscles, joints and bones and the systems of the body. Learning how to read the body, common injuries and how to avoid/protect.

  • The subtle body: including nadis, koshas, chakras, bandhas and mudra. Understanding Ayurveda and yogic lifestyle

  • Pranayama: the importance of the breath within our yoga practice, including specific Pranayama techniques.

  • Focusing the mind: meditation, mantra and chanting.

  • Yoga philosophy and history: learning about the roots of yoga, key yogic texts including the Bhagavad Ghita, Upanishads, Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Bringing this into your teaching and daily life with authenticity.

  • Ethics, inclusivity and authenticity: acknowledging the social and ethical concerns around teaching yoga and how we can maintain a safe and inclusive space for all students. Awareness of teaching with sensitivity to trauma.

  • Finding your teaching voice: teaching practice, feedback and self reflection, finding your niche and passion for teaching.

  • The reality of teaching: setting up classes, health, safety and insurance. Teaching in person and online, teaching 1:1 and running workshops. Marketing and business skills - striking a balance between selling and maintaining integrity.

  • Emergency First Aid at Work: whilst some students already have this, I will arrange a session at a subsidised cost for all students who do need it.

Don’t just take my word for it, here’s some feedback from my trainees…

There wasn’t a training I wanted to do that was close to me, so the online learning means I can do the training I want despite the distance. There’s a lovely supportive vibe between the students, despite being online. Nathalie is excellent at communicating tricky topics and breaking them down so they’re understandable. The course content is great, the course is definitely the highlight of my week!
— Emma Sutton
I really never thought I’d be where I am now, having conversations I’m having now. Thank you so much for guiding me on such a life changing path
